Iconolatry
Recently, I've tried to be productive by writing a feature screenplay. As usual, the result is to find as many distractions as possible. Currently, I am sitting in a coffee shop in Williamsburg struggling to come up with an ending. This is what I've been doing instead:A year and one half ago I happened upon TransparentDock, an application that allows Mac OSX users to customize their dock background, among other things. I enjoyed this application because it helped to better showcase the dock icons I had downloaded (by A. Piraino) /designed. Why did I design icons? Well, as you probably already know, in college I designed and screen-printed posters for concerts in the Bay Area. I screen-printed posters because screen-printing was another distraction, but one that turned out some sort of product. Screen-printing was nice because I was able to start and finish an art project in less than a week. Not only would I feel productive, but I would have something to show for it (and sell, so I could continue making more posters). After college I lost the means to screen posters, so I made icons, which were essentially micro-design projects. I digress.
TransparentDock, as it turns out, is not compatible with my new Intel MacBook, so I was forced to look at the default dock colors until I found a substitute. With a little digging I found ClearDock, which works wonderfully, tough you have to remember to log out/restart after installing for it to work properly. After installed you can find it in your System Preferences under "Application Enhancer."
